Summer, forest, children!

The summer sun beckons city dwellers to nature. Fresh air, the rustle of leaves, the singing of birds – the forest becomes the perfect place for family recreation. However, it is precisely at this time of year that the risk of fires sharply increases, capable of destroying hectares of invaluable Belarusian forests in a matter of hours, causing damage to the ecosystem and threatening human lives.

When heading to the forest, remember: You are a guest in nature's home. This means you should behave accordingly, following safety rules. A campfire is a special responsibility. It can only be lit in designated areas, on specially equipped sites. It is necessary to maintain a safe distance. It is very important to never leave the fire unattended. There should be extinguishing equipment nearby: a bucket of water, a shovel, a fire extinguisher. During periods of high fire danger (dry hot weather, strong winds), lighting fires in the forests is prohibited. Pay special attention to smoking – never throw away unextinguished cigarette butts and matches.

Resting with children in the forest is both a joy and a special responsibility for adults. Little explorers do not always realize the danger of fire and can easily get lost. Therefore, constant supervision of children is necessary. Do not allow children to play with fire, matches, or lighters. Explain that a campfire is not a toy, but a serious source of danger. Be sure to take a first aid kit with band-aids, antiseptics, and necessary medications on your trip. Dress children in bright, easily noticeable clothing. Before going to the forest, have a conversation with the children about what to do if they get lost, whom to contact in case of an emergency, why they should not touch unfamiliar mushrooms, berries, or plants, and why they should not enter the water without adults.
