Summer without tragedies!

Dear parents, grandmothers, and grandfathers! With the arrival of the long-awaited summer holidays and warm weather, the Ministry of Emergency Situations traditionally notes a sharp increase in the number of incidents involving children. Two risk factors cause particular concern: water and fire. The Ministry of Emergency Situations urges you to be extremely vigilant and to know simple but vital rules.

If you are resting with children by a body of water, remember – never leave children unattended. Drowning occurs quietly and instantaneously, sometimes even in shallow water. This applies not only to rivers or lakes but also to inflatable pools and barrels of water. Always choose only equipped beaches for recreation, where lifeguards are present. Avoid wild, unexamined places: there may be strong currents, whirlpools, logs, and glass. Do not use inflatable mattresses for swimming. They can easily deflate, flip over, and be carried away by the current far from the shore. A reliable means of protection for a child is a properly fitted children's life jacket. Explain to the child and adhere to rules such as refraining from diving, not swimming beyond the buoys, not pushing, and not giving false signals for help.

Summer picnics, hikes, and games at the dacha – all of this is often associated with fire! Never allow children to start fires, play with matches or lighters on their own. Sparks, embers, hot metal – all of these are sources of severe burns. Keep flammable liquids out of reach. Their vapors can ignite from the slightest spark at a distance. Discuss with the child the actions to take in case of a fire.

May the summer be a time of joy, health, and safe holidays for your families. In case of an emergency, call 101 or 112.
