Smoking without rules – a step towards tragedy
Every day, rescuers across the country respond to fires caused by one tragic reason – carelessness while smoking. An unextinguished cigarette, smoking in bed, or while under the influence of alcohol can lead to a fire in just a few minutes, taking lives and causing serious material damage.
Why does this happen? A cigarette smolders at a temperature of 300-400 degrees Celsius, and when inhaled – up to 1000 degrees. It only takes a moment to fall asleep or drop a cigarette on flammable materials for a flame to ignite. Smoking in bed poses a particular danger: when under the influence of alcohol, a person loses vigilance and simply does not have time to react to a fire.
To prevent disaster, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds you of the need to follow safety rules when smoking! Avoid smoking in bed or any sleeping area. Do not throw cigarette butts in trash bins, paper or plastic containers, or from balconies and windows. Use ashtrays. A smoldering butt that lands on a lower balcony or in dry grass can cause a large fire. Do not smoke near flammable substances. Keep matches and lighters out of reach of children. Install a standalone smoke detector in living areas.
Remember that your safety and the safety of your loved ones is in your hands!
