The competitive selection of youth initiatives within the review contest "Design the Future" took place in Vitebsk.
The competition is aimed at supporting innovative and socially significant ideas in the areas of urban environment, youth policy, volunteering, architecture, creativity, sports, and others. Its organizers are the regional Association of Local Councils of Deputies and the Youth Council under the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies.
A total of more than 30 youth projects from cities and districts of the region were presented. Participants faced a challenging task – to present their creation in just three minutes and convince the competent jury headed by the chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies Dmitry Demidov that their initiative is the best.
– This is the first project aimed at giving the most active representatives of our youth the opportunity to express themselves, to voice their ideas for the development of their small homeland, – noted Dmitry Demidov. – We did not limit the themes of the initiatives so that the guys could fully unleash their potential, talents, and convey their vision of what is happening in the region, make proposals aimed at improving work with youth, and feel like subjects of the processes taking place in our region.
The works presented for the competition touched on various aspects of life, but most importantly – all of them were done with love and aimed at improving people's lives, implementing ideas for landscaping and preserving historical memory, and creating conditions for sports and recreation. The youth from Vitebsk, Orsha, Tolchin, Senno, Shumilino, Dubrovno, Glubokoe, Miory, Dokshitsy, Beshankovichi, Rosson, of course, applied modern technologies and knowledge.
So the jury had a tough time, but in the end, three winners were named, who will receive funding of up to 6000 rubles from the regional Association of Local Councils of Deputies. These are the projects "Pedal for Health and a Clean Planet" (Tolchin), "Freedom of Creativity Without Age and Borders" (Dokshitsy), and "Creation of a Relaxation Room" (the town of Bogushevsk in the Senno district).
– You charged us with your energy, – summed up the results of the competition Dmitry Demidov. – The winners have been determined, but many ideas that were voiced here have been noted for future implementation. I am confident that not only these three projects will be brought to life in the future.
– To be honest, we did not expect to be winners at all, – said Anna Kulik, deputy head of the architecture and construction department of the Tolchin district executive committee. – Our project is aimed at developing an eco-trail and creating a bike rental. And this is exactly what our city really lacks.
