Orsha utility workers have taken up the fight against icicles

Winter presents new challenges for utility workers. On the agenda are works on removing icicles, ice, and snow caps from roofs.
Journalists from the "Arshanskaya Gazeta" observed how workers from the repair and construction shop of the utility company "Orshakomhoz" carry out these tasks. For example, on January 14, they were working on Komsomolskaya Street, 9, and Vladimir Lenin Street, 16 and 36. The master Elena Rytesh has other addresses planned as well.
To start, the driver brings and sets up a special lift. The company has 28 and 32-meter units for this purpose. Next, the work area is cordoned off with special tape. Workers put on safety harnesses, as they will be working at height. They have hammers and shovels in their hands. The hard work begins.
– In each housing maintenance section, janitors monitor places where icicles form, keeping an eye on their growth. Then they knock them down. This work is done daily, – noted the deputy general director for housing issues of "Orshakomhoz" Ivan Sapega.
It should be noted that residents of the buildings also do not remain indifferent, calling the unified number 115, the housing maintenance sections, and hotlines to report where dangerous winter decorations are hanging.

Passersby also need to be attentive, looking not only at their feet but also up. After all, icicles and snow caps hanging from the roofs of houses and balconies can cause serious injuries.
