Как пройдет единый день озеленения и акция «Дай лесу новае жыццё» в Витебской области?

How will the unified greening day and the “Give the forest a new life” campaign be conducted in the Vitebsk region?

In the run-up to the unified day of greening and the start of the campaign "Give the forest a new life," a press conference was held where experts discussed upcoming events.

As reported by the head of the department for the control of land, subsoil, biodiversity of specially protected natural areas of the Vitebsk Regional Committee for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Marina Galich, work on greening populated areas is actively underway in the region. This year, the plan for planting shrubs, trees, and flowers has been increased by about 10% compared to 2024.

– A total of 38,000 trees and 28,000 shrubs are planned to be planted in 2025. Much has already been done: 28,000 trees and over 21,000 shrubs have been planted, – emphasized Marina Galich. – For instance, a square has been arranged in Chashniki, and a park has been established in Glubokoe with a memory alley, where more than 300 seedlings of fir trees were planted.

Tomorrow in Vitebsk, plantings will take place in the 1000th Anniversary Park, near the Flag and Coat of Arms Square. 100 linden trees will be planted. In Polotsk, the creation of a park zone at the Mound of Immortality will continue, and in Dokshitsy, cherry and pine alleys will appear.

The head of the forestry and reforestation department of the Vitebsk State Forestry Enterprise, Yuri Apalko, spoke about the campaign "Give the forest a new life," which is being held in Belarus from October 11 to 31.

– The initiator of the campaign is the Ministry of Forestry. It aims to promote the forestry sector and restore damaged areas of the forest fund, including those affected by strong winds. In the region, it is planned to restore forests on an area of about 150 hectares, as well as to supplement previously created forest plantations on an area of at least 2,000 hectares. About 2 million seedlings and saplings of the main forest-forming species will be planted: pine, spruce, birch, as well as oak, ash, and maple, – noted Yuri Apalko. – The campaign will take place in all 18 forestry enterprises. To participate, you need to contact the nearest forestry enterprise. There are also designated sites where you can simply carry out landscaping, clean up debris, and restore order, contributing to the improvement of forest areas.

At the press conference, plans and current work on greening the regional center were discussed. As reported by the director of the State Enterprise "Vitebsk Greenery" Valentina Shendyukova, this year about 125,000 tulips are planned to be planted in the city: 87,600 in the city center (around Victory Square and the 1000th Anniversary Square) and 50,000 in Freedom Square. In total, about 1 million 200 thousand flowers, including bulbous ones, will be planted in the city this season.
