ГАИ в Орше усилила контроль пешеходных переходов

The traffic police in Orsha have stepped up control of pedestrian crossings

Since the beginning of the year, two accidents have been registered in Orsha at uncontrolled pedestrian crossings. They occurred on Vladimir Lenin Street and Textile Workers Avenue. As a result of the collisions, three pedestrians were injured. To prevent such traffic accidents involving pedestrians, the State Traffic Inspectorate has intensified control on the region's roads.

Daily, during morning and evening rush hours, officers of the traffic police and other public safety police services in high-visibility vests are on duty near the busiest uncontrolled pedestrian crossings. A correspondent from "Arshanka" also visited one of these duties.

During their service, police officers conduct explanatory work with pedestrians, reminding them of safety measures when crossing the roadway, discussing the importance of being visible on the road, what type of reflector is best to choose and how to wear it correctly, and handing out thematic leaflets to citizens.

– Traffic inspectors also monitor compliance with the rules for passing pedestrian crossings. They talk to drivers, emphasizing that when approaching a pedestrian crossing, one should exercise utmost caution and drive at a speed that allows yielding to pedestrians if necessary, – said the senior inspector for agitation and propaganda of the traffic police department of the Orsha district executive committee Viktoriya Veremyeva.

In addition, daily on patrol routes, traffic inspectors check the functionality of street lighting, the presence of instances of streetlight outages at night, as well as the work of organizations for winter maintenance of streets and roads in a safe condition.
