The Power of Business Contacts: a delegation from Zimbabwe visited the Vitebsk Hydroelectric Power Station
Options for cooperation in the energy sector were discussed during the visit to Vitebsk by a delegation from the Republic of Zimbabwe headed by the Minister of Energy of this African country, Mr. July Moyo.
As explained by Dmitry Lukyanin, head of the Department of Foreign Economic Activity and International Cooperation of the Ministry of Energy of Belarus, the business trip aims to develop points of contact that meet the interests of both sides. July Moyo was introduced to the opportunities of the energy sector in the region, visited the Vitebsk Hydroelectric Power Station, the electrical networks area, and the enterprises "Vitsbtroytekhmash" and "Energo Komplekt," where he inquired about the products and the possibility of their use in his country.
The machine-building plant "Vitsbtroytekhmash," which is the leading enterprise in Belarus for the production of lifting and transport equipment, manufactures machinery for various fields of activity, including energy. Representatives from Zimbabwe were shown innovations that have no analogues in the CIS territory. In particular, a lift equipped with advanced equipment that combines the functions of several pieces of machinery and is intended for loading and unloading, construction and installation, repair, and transport work.
Representatives of the African country were also interested in the cable and wire products produced by the production association "Energo Komplekt." Its consumers include enterprises from various industries: energy, oil and gas, construction, mining, and transportation.
– Countries of the distant arc at the moment are one of the promising vectors for the development of our enterprise, so we consider Africa and East Asia as a direction in which we will work in the next five to ten years, – emphasized the general director of the company Andrei Avko. – The horizons are vast. These countries will develop at an accelerated pace.
The head of the enterprise added that it is necessary to work out logistics and other aspects that would make cooperation more profitable. Perhaps it is necessary to enter into intergovernmental agreements, such as our country has with Vietnam, where import customs duties have been abolished, or with the United Arab Emirates, where they will be gradually reduced.
And "Energo Komplekt" guarantees the quality of its products. The cables and wires produced here will withstand both the African heat and the northern frosts.
