Champions of Soviet and Belarusian handball gave a master class to young athletes in Orsha.
Today, at the base of the handball club "MAZ-Orsha" in the sports complex of the village of Babinichi, a master class and coaching seminar are taking place. The event is organized by the Belarusian Handball Federation as part of the program for the development of the sport in the regions of the republic.
Coaches from the handball departments of children's and youth sports schools from Lepel, Novopolotsk, Vitebsk, and Orsha, their students, as well as coaches from the handball club "MAZ-Orsha", which competes in the first division of the Betera Super League of Belarus, have been invited to the meeting. The guests were welcomed by the head of the sports and tourism department of the Orsha district executive committee Snezhana Bryuzgina.
The master class is conducted by one of the best Belarusian handball players Boris Pukhovsky, who represented the national team at the European Championships (2008, 2014, 2016, 2018) and World Championships (2013, 2015, 2017), becoming a record holder for the number of matches (205) and goals scored (865) for the Belarusian national team. In the summer of 2025, he announced the end of his playing career and is now working as the deputy chairman of the Belarusian Handball Federation, overseeing the development of the sport in the regions.
As an honorary guest of the meeting, the event is attended by the famous Russian handball player, two-time Olympic champion as part of the USSR team (1988) and Russia (2000), bronze medalist of the 2004 Olympic Games Alexander Tuchkin. Alexander Arkadyevich motivated the kids for new achievements in sports and provided practical advice during the master class. During the coaching seminar, he focused on the issues of individual training for young handball players.
