Более 130 миллионов деревьев в 78 странах: международная акция «Сад памяти» прошла в Витебской области

More than 130 million trees in 78 countries: the international "Memory Garden" campaign took place in the Vitebsk region.

On the shore of Lake Losvido in the Vitebsk region, an event took place that united different generations to honor the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. Employees of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus in the Vitebsk region, students of Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov, and pupils of Dolzhanskaya Secondary School gathered at military burial site No. 4431 to lay flowers and pay tribute to the fallen soldiers.

– We are proud of the feats accomplished by our ancestors. Honoring their memory is a sacred duty of each of us. A huge number of our soldiers perished, and we continue to search for the missing every year, – emphasized the head of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus in the Vitebsk region, Major General of Justice Alexander Gutsko.

The event "Garden of Memory," dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory, is an international initiative that started in 2020, aiming to plant 27 million trees in memory of each fallen citizen of the Soviet Union during the war. More about this was shared by the Deputy Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in Belarus, the First Secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Bystrov:

– 78 countries have joined our initiative. 130 million trees have already been planted. We still cannot establish the names of all the fallen soldiers, so we must remember their heroism.
