Belarus ratified a treaty with Russia on security guarantees. Lukashenko signed the corresponding law
The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, signed the law "On the Ratification of the Treaty between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation on Security Guarantees within the Framework of the Union State." This was reported by BELTA in the press service of the Belarusian leader.
The international treaty establishes mutual guarantees for the implementation of necessary measures in the event of threats to the security of Belarus and Russia, as well as the Union State as a whole.
The fulfillment of obligations implies collective resistance to unilateral restrictive measures of an economic and other nature, the use by the parties of the potential of their relations with other states and other subjects of international law to prevent encroachments on security, the adoption of retaliatory measures not only against committed acts of aggression but also against threats of their commission, as well as the prompt provision of necessary military, military-technical, and other assistance.
The cooperation envisaged by the treaty is of an in-depth nature, which corresponds to the existing military-political challenges.
