«Аршанка» заглянула в педколледж: что увидели и узнали

"Arshanka" peeked into the pedagogical college: what they saw and learned

"Arshanka" continues to introduce its readers to how young people from educational institutions in our region live and study. This time we visited the Orsha College of Vitebsk State University named after P. M. Masherov – one of the oldest pedagogical institutions in Belarus.

Today, it is a modern educational institution where young people can obtain a profession in the following specialties: "preschool education", "primary education", "physical education teaching", "foreign language teaching (English)" and "software development and support for information systems".

Over its 114 years of existence, the pedagogical college has prepared thousands of young specialists. About how the admission campaign went in 2025, the journalist of "Arshanskaya Gazeta" was told by the director Anatoly Zulyov.

– In the new academic year, our team has done a lot of career guidance work to fulfill the enrollment. Evidence of this is that the indicators have been fully met, there is a steady increase in the popularity of specialties, and the average admission score has also increased. Overall, the competition for specialties this year was 1.4 people per place. It has been stable for at least eight years. However, for the specialty "physical education teaching", the competition was 1.6 people per place. A total of 160 people have been enrolled in the first year this academic year. Every year, all our graduates get their first job. Last year, we graduated 147 young specialists who joined the ranks of pedagogical teams in the Orsha region and other regions of the country, – shared Anatoly Alexandrovich.

The good material and technical base of the college allows for the training of high-level specialists that meet the requirements of employers. Evidence of the good preparation of students is numerous awards. For example, this year Darya Provalskaya became a silver medalist of the Republican competition "ProfskillsBelarus-2025" in the competency "Preschool Education". "Arshanka" wrote about this achievement in June.

The college has created comfortable living conditions for students in the dormitory. The renovation in the nine-story building is nearing completion. Currently, work is being done on insulating the facade. In 2026, the dormitory will acquire its final appearance.

– Currently, 244 students live here, as well as 13 young specialists who work in educational institutions of the Orsha district, – noted the head of the dormitory Tatyana Teplyakova.

Among the residents of the apartment building, who are just starting their labor path, is Angelina Devachkova. The girl is a graduate of the Mogilev State College of Arts. By distribution, she works as a librarian at the Orsha Pedagogical College for the first year. Angelina is completely satisfied with the living conditions in the dormitory.

The student Ivan Kharevich has been living here for the third year. The guy came to Orsha from Vitebsk and studies in the specialty "primary education". Ivan is also the chairman of the dormitory council. He showed the journalist of "Arshanskaya Gazeta" around the corridors, rooms, and facilities of the dormitory and demonstrated how students relax in their free time from studies.

The building has a sports hall and a gym, a recreation room, a health center, a self-study room, and a cafeteria. The common kitchens, showers, and toilets have been well renovated. It is cozy in the rooms as well. And from the windows, there is a beautiful view of the city. Twice a week, students conduct a general cleaning in their rooms.

According to Ivan, he would not trade his life in the dormitory for a rented apartment.

– There is a cozy and friendly atmosphere here. There are conditions for comfortable living, and a large number of events take place. I have made many new friends, with whom we learn to be independent and spend time interestingly and fun, – confessed Ivan Kharevich.
