Alexander Subbotin: "We are proud that the pearl of the Orthodox world – the Savior-Transfiguration Church in Polotsk is located in the Vitebsk region."
The Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, expressed words of greeting and gratitude on the occasion of the opening after restoration works of the pearl of the Orthodox world – the Spaso-Transfiguration Church in Polotsk.
– It is a special honor for the Vitebsk region to welcome guests on the land where the first stone was laid not only for the construction of the Euphrosynian Monastery but also for the statehood of the Belarusian people by the venerable Euphrosinia of Polotsk, – noted the head of the region. – In Belarus, there is a careful attitude towards churches, many of which are part of the treasury of the historical and cultural heritage of the country. Thus, thanks to the joint efforts of the church and the state, the restoration of the unparalleled church became possible, and the doors of this unique monument of 12th-century architecture opened to all believers and pilgrims.
