Very soon, Orthodox and Catholic believers will celebrate the most important holiday of the year – the Bright Resurrection of Christ. Thousands of candles will be lit, creating an atmosphere of joy and light. To ensure that this bright day is not overshadowed by unforeseen incidents, it is extremely important to observe safety measures.
On Easter day, a large number of people gather in churches. In places where Easter services are held, the Ministry of Emergency Situations will organize duty personnel to ensure fire safety. However, each parishioner must also remember the basic safety rules.
Before the service begins, familiarize yourself with the layout of the church building to know the evacuation routes, which must be multiple, and all exit doors should be open. In case of fire alarm activation, do not panic; leave the hall quickly, but without creating panic and crowding.
Exercise caution when lighting candles from candle holders: remove long and wide sleeves of clothing, securely tie headscarves, and gather your hair under them. Watch children closely; do not allow them to place lit candles near your clothing. Also, try to maintain a safe distance from parishioners holding lit candles. In case of clothing catching fire, quickly remove it, try to extinguish the flames with a fire extinguisher, or cover it with a thick material.
During the festive days, do not forget about safety at home: after lighting a church candle, place it on a non-flammable stand at a significant distance from flammable objects. Do not leave lit candles unattended and remember that they should be placed out of reach of children.
