March 26, Pyongyang /Corr. BELTA/. The first official visit of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to the DPRK in history has concluded. At the airport, the head of the Belarusian state was personally seen off by the Chairman of the State Affairs of the DPRK Kim Jong Un, reports the correspondent of BELTA.

The leaders of the countries bid farewell warmly. At the ceremony at the airport, together with the members of the delegations, several hundred people and an orchestra were present.
Alexander Lukashenko and Kim Jong Un held official talks in Pyongyang on March 26, announcing the beginning of a new stage in the relations between the two countries. Following the talks, a treaty of friendship and cooperation between Belarus and the DPRK was signed. The parties also concluded about a dozen agreements and memoranda on cooperation in specific areas, including education, healthcare, agriculture, culture, physical culture and sports, the information sphere, interaction through the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The head of the Belarusian state participated in an official reception on behalf of the leader of the DPRK. "Our countries are very similar. Similar in our peoples - hardworking, very tender towards their work," said the President, raising a toast to the peoples of Belarus and the DPRK.

The President noted that the visit itself, although not very long, is very important, opening a new page in the cooperation of the two countries. Alexander Lukashenko remarked that over the three decades since the establishment of diplomatic relations, much further progress could have been made in cooperation between Belarus and the DPRK. "But it has turned out that we will have to catch up with the time we have lost," he said. "And we will go through this upcoming period very quickly thanks to the bonds of friendship that connect us. We knew well, and now we are convinced, that our countries are united by a common view on the main issues of the international agenda."
Alexander Lukashenko, together with Kim Jong Un, attended a ceremonial concert dedicated to the visit, where Korean artists performed both national pieces and famous Belarusian songs.
