On February 18, the employees of the Orsha Department of Internal Affairs celebrated their professional holiday on transport

Orsha is the largest railway hub in the republic and the eastern gateway of the country. In 1919, a railway police department was established here, in 1920 – a linear police management, and on August 1, 1937, a linear police station at Orsha station.

On the eve of the holiday, a solemn event dedicated to the 106th anniversary of the formation of the transport police took place at the OVDT. The head of the Orsha Department of Internal Affairs on Transport, Lieutenant Colonel of Police Oleg Yurchenko, congratulated the employees and veterans.

– Throughout its history, the transport police has undergone many changes. The number of qualified crimes is decreasing, but crime is taking on different aspects. Accordingly, new units are being created, including based on the transport police. A new generation of police officers is coming. However, one thing remains unchanged over the years. For many decades, the employees of the Orsha Transport Police have demonstrated high professionalism and dedication, remaining true to the duty of upholding the law in relation to every citizen, – noted Oleg Valeryevich. – Our department's employees were the first in the Republic of Belarus to receive awards for bravery. It is gratifying that service here is also passed down through entire dynasties, transferring family traditions from generation to generation.

Oleg Yurchenko wished all employees and veterans of the Orsha Department of Internal Affairs on Transport, as well as their family members, good health, inexhaustible optimism, family happiness, and professional success, and presented well-deserved awards.

The badge of distinction of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee was awarded to the assistant duty officer of the public safety police operational duty service of the OVDT, police sergeant Stanislav Shinkevich.

The honorary diploma of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee was awarded to the inspector of the OOPP service of the Orsha OVDT Dmitry Shirkovich, and the diploma of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee was awarded to the specialist of the personnel group Ekaterina Melnitskaya.

Gratitude from the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee was announced to police sergeant Viktor Goncharov, police sergeants Evgeny Brusochkin and Igor Zhenyevsky.

Special words of gratitude and sincere appreciation were also expressed to the veterans of the department.

Gratitude from the Orsha OVDT for contributions to the formation of the transport police was awarded to Valentina Kanashchenko, Yuri Khitrov, Dmitry Gruyl.

According to tradition, the archpriest of the Orsha district churches, protodeacon Valery Serko, blessed the employees of the Orsha Department of Internal Affairs on Transport for every good deed and sprinkled them with holy water.
