Belarus ready to expand tourism cooperation with Lithuania
GRODNO, June 26 (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to step up Belarus-Lithuania cooperation in the areas of tourism and alternative energy and the interregional collaboration, said Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky as he met with his Lithuanian counterpart Andrius Kubilius in Grodno on June 26. According to the Belarusian Premier, in the time of the global crisis the bilateral cooperation should emphasize the diversification of trade, expansion of joint ventures and vigorous investment cooperation.

Belarus has no unresolved problems with Russia
MINSK, June 25 (BelTA) – Belarus has no unresolved problems with Russia, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko as he met with Rostov Oblast Governor Vladimir Chub on June 25. “Russia has been and is the main strategic ally for our country,” stressed the head of state. “Despite all the gas, oil, milk and other scandals we always remain open to Russia, to Russian people”. The President remarked that the bilateral trade is negatively affected by multiple limitations and restrictions introduced by the Russian side.

Belarus, Lithuania to promote joint energy, transport projects as part of Eastern Partnership
MINSK, June 19 (BelTA) – Belarus and Lithuania intend to promote joint projects in the area of power engineering and transport as part of the Eastern Partnership initiative, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Evaldas Ignatavicius told media after two-day consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries in Minsk on June 19. The Lithuanian official underscored that the Minsk talks had touched upon many topics.

Belarus and Turkmenistan have great cooperation potential, Alexander Lukashenko says
ASHKHABAD, June 18 (BelTA) - Belarus and Turkmenistan have a great potential for expanding the cooperation, Belarusian head of state Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov on June 18. The bilateral trade has recently increased 13 times, Alexander Lukashenko said. “But the trade we have now is almost nothing. The potential of our countries is huge and we need to use it,” the President of Belarus said.

German businessmen ready to invest in Belarus economy
MINSK, June 16 (BelTA) – Along with trading German businessmen are ready to make investments into the Belarusian economy, said Bernd Pfaffenbach, State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, as he met with the President of Belarus on June 16. “Even during the previous, harder times we understood our role of a bridge between Belarus and the European Union,” stressed the German official.

Belarus President: Customs Union will initiate recovery from crisis
MINSK, June 10 (BelTA) – The creation of the united customs space of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan will be the beginning of the recovery from the global crisis and will have good prospects, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko as he met with Kazakhstan Prime Minister Karim Masimov on June 10. “I believe some breakthrough was achieved in Moscow yesterday,” said Alexander Lukashenko. “If we create the united customs space, we will have a common space from the Belarusian-Polish border to the Chinese-Kazakh one without restrictive measures.

EurAsEC needs to remove interstate barriers in trade, Sergei Sidorsky says
MINSK, June 9 (BelTA) – Under present-day conditions the EurAsEC countries should remove all existing interstate barriers and exclude application of protective measures in the mutual trade, Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky told reporters in Minsk before leaving for Moscow to participate in the session of the EurAsEC Interstate Council on June 9. Putting restrictions in the mutual trade during the crisis would only exacerbate the situation in the production cooperation and undermine regular payments between the EurAsEC economic agents, Sergei Sidorsky stressed.

Belarus intent on stepping up cooperation with Europe
MINSK, June 8 (BelTA) – Belarus will remain intent on stepping up the European vector of cooperation, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko as he met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia Samuel Zbogar on June 8. “You can rest assured that all the developments in relations with our western partner, the European Union, is not an exceptional step on our part, not some game, it is the pursuance of our long-time strategic policy,” stressed Alexander Lukashenko.

Belarus to get CBSS observer status on July 1
MINSK, June 5 (BelTA) – As from July 1, 2009 Belarus will be granted the status of observer in the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS). The relevant decision was made unanimously by the 15th session of the CBSS Ministerial Council in Dutch Elsinore, BelTA learnt from representatives of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry. At the session Ambassador of Belarus to Sweden Andrei Grinkevich voiced an address by Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergei Martynov.

5th Belarus’ National Exhibition opens in Kazakhstan
MINSK, June 3 (BelTA) – Over 130 companies and organisations have displayed their products at the 5th National Exhibition of Belarus in Kazakhstan BelarusEXPO 2009. The exposition takes place in Astana on June 3-6, BelTA learnt from the organizing committee. The exposition will display a wide range of Belarusian industrial and consumer goods. Large expositions will be featured by the Agriculture and Food, Education, Architecture and Construction Ministries, Belneftekhim, Bellegprom and Bellesbumprom concerns, the State Science and Technology Committee, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
